Mmmonk is a collaboration project between several partners and institutions of Flandres.

Project partners

Mmmonk is is a collaborative project between Bruges Public Library, Ghent University Library, Major Seminary Ten Duinen in Bruges and Ghent Diocese. The project is funded by the Flemish Government (Department Culture, Youth and Media).

Bruges Public Library

Bruges Public Library (Openbare Bibliotheek Brugge, or OBB) holds approximately 800 manuscripts. Of these, approximately 600 date from before 1550.

Ghent University Library

The Ghent University Library – Book Tower preserves one of the largest heritage collections of the Low Countries.

Major Seminary Ten Duinen Bruges

Major Seminary Ten Duinen holds 101 medieval manuscripts from the former abbeys of Ten Duinen and Ter Doest.

Diocese of Ghent

The Diocese of Ghent, the Ghent Episcopal Seminary and the Chapter of St Bavo’s have a rich, extensive library and archival collection, including eleven medieval manuscripts from the former Benedictine abbeys of St Peter and St Bavo.

Secondary partners

The four project partners are supported by a strong network of partners, including special collections libraries, religious institutions, museums, research centres and sectoral network organisations.

Historische Huizen Gent/Historical Houses of Ghent (St Peter’s Abbey and St Bavo’s Abbey, Ghent)

Manages the historical sites and buildings of the former St Bavo’s Abbey and St Peter’s Abbey on behalf of the city of Ghent.

VEB – Flemish Heritage Libraries

Sectoral support network of heritage libraries, established at the end of 2008 by six partner libraries: the Hendrik Conscience Heritage Library in Antwerp, the Antwerp University Library, the Bruges Public Library, the Ghent University Library, the Hasselt Limburg Library, and KULeuven Libraries.
