Bruges Public Library holds a collection of circa 600 medieval manuscripts. We welcome students in upper secundary education our library to learn about the production of medieval books. How were pigments and quills made? Who wrote and decorated books? Why were certains materials extremely expensive? Is it true that these books are written on animal skin? Students get to see and touch real parchment, precious pigments (gold!) and are shown a medieval manuscript. In the second half of the workshop students learn how to write a gothic script with a real quill.

Important notice! As of 2022, groups are no longer limited to 15 students.
