Summary
Manuscript 140 contains The Moralia in Job by Pope Gregory I (c. 540 - 604), owned by Ter Doest Abbey. It is part one of three. Manuscript 140 contains books 1 to 10 of the Moralia in Job, which is a commentary on Job. The manuscript dates back to c. 1200. It is written in a littera praetextualis script. The manuscript is richly illuminated. The initials at the beginning of each books are drawn with pen in blue or black, and occasionally in green (Folio 5). The letters are raised slightly with a light yellow colouring. The initials are decorated with geometric motives and stylized foliage with acanthus leaves in a monochrome colouring. Some of the initials were also framed, for example on Folio 61r. The manuscript has a binding of 'Campmans' type. [Summary by Sarah Vanroye]
